When Should You Not Use Magento

I am not an anti-Magento blogger. I admire Magento for its powerful features and high-end technology. I have no doubt that it’s the robust eCommerce solution. But, it’s not for everyone, this solution is recommended to the expensive stores. I do not think that every merchant should go for Magento. There are certain conditions in which I would not recommend Magento to a business owner. In this post, I discuss the five conditions under which you (if you are an individual want to start an online shop) should not think about Magento.

1.    If your business is on a small budget

It’s a true fact that Magento is more suitable for the expensive big online shops. For small businesses, it’s not an easy solution. If you are not a bit technical, you may not be capable of running your shop from Magento’s back-end. You would necessarily need one or more extension for your shop to be set up online, which occur expensive, though you can take-up TemplateToaster as non-expensive designing solution.

2.    If you do not want to setup multiple stores

Magento is a high-end eCommerce solution. One of its noteworthy features is its multiple store handling technique. From one admin dashboard, an owner can run-and-manage more than one store. If you don’t have such need, then why to go on the complex (Magento) way? You should choose a simple to implement solution, like WordPress- Woo Commerce combination or Joomla-VirtueMart combination.

3.    If you can’t afford the paid support

Though Magento community edition is free of cost, support is not. Magento developers give priority to the big owners to solve their problems. It’s user community is also not as strong as WordPress and Joomla. You have to do more search over the internet to find the solutions to your problem.

4.    When You Really Do not Need The Custom Functionality

Prepare the list of functions you want your online store to perform. Small businesses do not keep high-end functions in their online shops because of two reasons, one is they truly don’t need them and another is they cost high. Magento is more preferred for customization ability, and if having custom functions for the shop is not your need. Do not go for Magento.

5.    When you want to establish your store yourself

The WordPress is the most intuitive content management system that anyone can use for setting-up a website without external help. You have to be a bit technical for using Magento because it’s not that intuitive platform. If you have decided to bring your online store on your own. Magento is not most suitable.
